JUMPING SHOW AT WAIMATE
Results In Opening Day’s Events (From Our Own Reporter) VATJATL, Feb. 28. With 160 horses and ponies, representing more than 340 entries, the two-day jumping show conducted by the South Canterbury and North Otago area of the New Zealand Horse Society, opened at Knottingly Park under ideal conditions. The Waimate-owned Mecca (R. M. Williamson) leader in the points competition was unplaced in the opening A grade event, which was won by Challenge. owned and ridden by P. Harwood (Hamilton). Challenge, upgraded at the Cheviot show, gave an outstanding performance. Mecca, Itowever, maintained the lead with 38 points, the North Island horse, Snail, being next with 25. Judges in the FE.I. events were Messrs G. P. Donnelly. B. G. Rutherford, D. Duff, J. Muirhead and S. Hamilton. Those for the dressage and combined training events were Mr C. Hasselman, Mesdames J.
