FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A ridge of high pressure covers the South Island from the east, A small depression has developed near Auckland. Forecast:— Canterbury.—Moderate north-easterly winds, fresh at times in exposed coastal areas; cloudy areas soon clearing about the coast and becoming fine; moderate temperatures about the coast, but becoming rather warm inland. Buller and Westland.—Moderate variable winds; cloudy areas soon clearing; mild day temperatures. Nelson and Marlborough.—Winds light to moderate and variable; fine and mild. Outlook.—All districts: cloud increasing in Buller and Westland; fine elsewhere.
