100,000 Special Votes In The Election Today

WELLINGTON, November 29.
More than 100,000 special votes have been issued to New Zealanders, who will be unable to vote at normal polling places in the General Election.
Special votes have been issued to travellers within New Zealand, to New Zealanders travelling overseas on business and pleasure, to servicemen in Malaya, members of New Zealand's expedition to the Antarctic, seamen who will be between ports or away from their home ports on election day and to the sick confined to their homes or to hospitals and other institutions. Special votes have also been issued to New Zealanders staffing the lonelyweather stations on Raoul and Campbell Islands. The All Blacks will register their votes through New Zealand House in London. Apart from those in the Antarctic. New Zealanders in 18 countries have asked for special votes. Most of the requests have come from Britain. Others are from lands as far apart as Japan and the United States, Switzerland and the Cook Islands. In Australia, New Zealanders will be able to vote in Canberra, Melbourne and Sydney.
