HAWKE CUP CHALLENGE
Good Start Wasted (N.Z. Press Association) NELSON, November 29. Nelson was in a strong position at the end of the first day's play in a Hawke Cup cricket defence against Wairarapa today. Wairarapa started well but collapsed dismally, losing its last six wickets for five runs. In reply to Wairarapa’s total of 153, Nelson was 124 for two wickets at stumps. R, Davies top scored for Wairarapa with 46 and both I. B. Leggat, making a return to bowling after a season off with a back injury, and K. A. Baker took four wickets. G. E. Lowans and L. B.
