NORTHERM KENYA

Secessionists’ Raids On Police (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) NAIROBI, Nov. 28. The leader of the Opposition, Mr Ronald Ngala warned in Kenya’s House of Representatives today that “a very serious danger’’ had arisen in the Northern Frontier District, where there had been repeated raids on Kenya police posts by secessionists Mr Ngala said a situation was coming in which the Prime Minister (Mr Kenyatta) might have to use military force. He wanted to know if forces were sufficient to meet the situation if it deteriorated. He said: “We have heard that some countries are preparing armies to the extent of 20,000 persons. In Kenya there are only about 1000 soldiers and we do not know how well they are equipped.” Kenya’s Northern Frontier District is claimed by Somalia.
