Mr Miller said he did not .see the man himself, but the ! woman said he had gone I down Hohipere street. I “I called the police im--1 mediately." he said. Week-end burglars got away with more than £6OOO !in cash and cheques when they blew a safe in the main I office of the Foodtown Supermarket, near Papakura.
The food market is on the Great South road, about a I mile north of Papakura town- | ship. Entry to the 22,000 sq. ft. ! building was gained through ; the roof. The burglars are bej lieved to have climbed on the 'roof by using empty wooden | crates.
j They cut their way through
the iron and lowered themselves inside the roof. They made another cut to gain entry to the office, where they blew the small steel safe.
The burglary was discovered about 8.10 a.m. today by members of the supermarket office staff. The bulk of the money represented takings between 4 p.m. and closing time on Friday night. All the money is insured.
