Morning Cricket

The mention made of starting times for senior cricket matches by Mr J. T. Eltoft in his report of the New Zealand council meeting, could prove of interest to those who feel that morning cricket is essential in order to achieve outright decisions. Mr Eltoft said that in Auckland, senior matches start at 12.30 p.m. and at noon in Wellington. Yet. as Mr Eltoft pointed

out, these senior teams only have an hour or half an hour less than their Christchurch equivalents. He said that Auckland also holds Saturday morning schoolboys’ cricket and supports 178 teams in that grade. Mr Eltoft said it could be kept in mind for the special meeting in February with a view to following the example of Auckland and Wellington.
