While there may be some who consider the efforts of the centre have been overshadowed by the achievements of a compare-
tive newcomer in the field, the New Brighton Club, which will have its own track officially opened on December 7, the centre's task is more complex.

To assist the centre a special fund-raising committee has been working and another committee consisting of representatives of the Christchurch City Council and the centre is investigating other aspects such as site and type of track.
