FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—An anti-cyclone is stationary over the north Tasman sea and a trough of low pressure is approaching the South Island from the west. Forecast: Canterbury.—Light variable winds inland and moderate to fresh north-easterlias about the coast, with partly cloudy weather at first; a change to moderate to fresh south-westerlies during the day, with cooler temperatures; cloudy skies and some scattered showers. Outlook: partly cloudy. Marlborough.—North-westerly winds, strong in exposed places, decreasing ana turning to fresh southerlies in the evening; pertly cloudy, mild weather at first; but cloudy skies, cooler temperatures and some scattered showers with the southerlies. Outlook: partly cloudy. Nelson.—Moderate northerly winds predominating; cloudy and mild, with scattered showers in the evening. Outlook: partly cloudy. Buller and Westland.—Light to moderate variable winds; cloudy to overcast, with rain at times; moderate temperatures. Outlook: occasional rain. CHRISTCHURCH READINGS
