ANTARCTIC BURSARY

Consideration By Society

The Canterbury branch of the New Zealand Antarctic Society is considering offering a bursary which will enable a senior university student, or other qualified person, to spend four months carrying out research in the Antarctic.

The value of the bursary would be about £2oo—a sum which the branch considers would compensate a student for loss of earning during vacation time. It is also s condition that the selected student would become a member of the University of Canterbury’s biological expedition to Cape Royds in McMurdio Sound. This is where the student’s research would be carried out

The branch is considering ways of raising the money for the bursary.
