(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. Oct 17. Mr Jahn Brady, aged 86, a farmer at Patumahoe. was sdmitted to the Middlemore Hospital today suffering from burns to the legs. arms and face after his bedding caught fire in his home His condition tonight was serious
A 22-year-oki farm worker. Mr R McAlpine, who was working on his mother’s pro. perty nearby, found Mr Brady lying on the floor at the foot of his bed
"I dragged him out along the floor ” said Mr McAlpine “The mattress was red hot and there was a hole burnt in the floor ”
Mr McAlpine and a bour extinguished the fire with buckets at water.
