Electra Diverted To Wellington

Fog and low cloud closed Christchurch airport for all landings and DC3 departures last evening.

A Tasman Empire Airways Electra, which was due soon after 6 p.m., was diverted to Wellington. It is expected to arrive art Christchurch art 9.20 a.m. today. The aircraft will leave for Melbourne at 10.15 a.m. instead of 9 a.m. Fifty-seven passengers aboard the Electra, and passengers booked on two cancelled National Airways Corporation flights from Wellington, travelled in the irrterisland steamer during the night. A DC3 flight to Wellington was also cancelled.
