Hoarded Money

There is good reason to believe that thousands of pounds are lying idle in New Zealand. Some people, for various reasons, will not trust their money to any institution, °r to anyone else. No doubt these people are saving for an emergency or through fear of poverty in old age. Their deposit boxes are jam jars, paper parcels, and hiding places around the house. This Is idle money, earning no interest, and is in perpetual danger from theft and fire. If these people could be persuaded to place their money in some form of organised saving they would be better off and the whole country would benefit.
