NATIONAL IN WAIPA
Munro Wins Nomination (N.Z. Press Association) HAMILTON. July 1. Sir Leslie Munro has been chosen as National Party candidate for Waipa. He was selected tonight from four candidates nominated to fill the vacancy which will occur with the retirement at the end of this session of Mr H. Johnstone, the sitting member. Although only 172 delegates were entitled to vote at the ballot for election more than 700 heard the four candidates speak. The selection was not announeed until 11 p.m. and the final figures of the ballot were not released The other candidates were Mr G A Cavanagh, of Ohaupo, Mr R. W Ladd, of Te Mata, and Mr T. L. J. Tucker, of Auckland.
