(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 1. Surprise buzzed around the Arbitration Court room today when a dairy farmer told the commission inquiring into the local butterfat pay-out that he had just retired—at 37.

“Are you a working dairy farmer?” Mr A. J. Ingram was asked by Mr D. B. McDonald, for the Federation of Labour.

Mr Ingram: 1 sold my dairy farm on June I—l’m semi-retired. Sir Arthur Tyndall (commission chairman): How old are you? Mr Ingram: Thirtyseven.

Mr L. M. Papps (counsel for the Dairy Board): He’s joining the rank of the politicians. Mr T. E. Skinner (act-ing-F.O.L. president): Make your fortune in dairying, then retire.
