Three Tie 11 Under Par
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) CLEVELAND (Ohio), June 30 T. Aaron birdied the final four holes today to finish in a three-way tie with A. Palmer and A. Lerna in the 110,000 dollars Cleveland open golf championship. All three had 11-under-par totals of 273.
The two Australians in the field finished well. W. Dunk had a 89 for 281: and B. Devlin had a 70 far 282. They were unable to challenge the leaders.
Aaron had a five-under-par 34-32—66 today. Palmer and Lerna needed only one birdie over the last two holes to win. Palmer, who wanted the 22,000-dallars top prize to set an all-time money winning record, and Lerna, could not ge* it. Palmer and Lerna both shot 68 three under par over the 6581-yard Beechmont
Gauntry Club course. The three of them will meet in a three-way play-off tomorrow.
Missing the play-off by one shot with 10-under-par totals of 274 were the American open champion. J. Boros, S. Snead and J. Burke. Baros finished with a 31-34—65 which tied the course record, Snead with 34-33—67. and Burke with a 34 34 68 J Nicklaus birdied the final hole today for a 70 for 275 which moved him one shot ahead of A. WaU, J Herbert, D. January and G. Player. Wall and Hebert carded 67’s, January a 60. and Player a 70.
