Rugby VISIT BY CRAVEN
No Reason Given (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY, July 1. Dr. Dan-ie Craven, president of the South African Rugby Board, may go to New Zealand after his talks with the Australian Rugby Union. Dr. Craven would not answer reporters’ questions about the reasons for his visit to Australia. AU he would say was: “That I cannot disclose. I wish I could tell you, but I can’t. I might make a statement tomorrow after I have had a meeting with Australian Rugby Union officials.” There was speculation that Dr. Craven was coming to Australia to discuss the experimental Rugby Union laws being played in South Africa this winter. But in reply to a question he said “I won't be discussing the rules definitely not. But that poses a problem.” The chairman of the NewSouth Wales Rugby Union executive, Mr C. Blunt, who met Dr. Craven at the airport, said he did not know the reason for Dr. Craven's visit. Dr. Craven said the South African Rugby Board had decided only last week that he should visit Australia. He would stay only a day or two.
