Dobson Family Wins £12,000

(From Our Own Reporter) GREYMOUTH, July 1. The first prize in the Golden Kiwi lottery No. 105 went to a Dobson family, “We Five.”

The family comprises Mr and Mrs Norman Finch, their «ter, Mrs P. BlanchfleJd, usband, Mr P. Blanchfield, and Joanne Blanchfield, their nine-weeks-old daughter. Mr Blanchfield is a son of the member of Parliament for Westland.

They have been taking tickets in the lottery for some time. Until the arrival of their grand-daughter, Mr and Mrs Finch, who had been purchasing the tickets for the syndicate, had used the name “We Four.” ’

Mr Finch is a truck driver and Mr Blanchfield is a trucker at the Dobson State mine.

This latest win of the first prize in the lottery makes the third success for West Coast purchasers of tickets. The first was in No. 9, the winner being Mr C. Nightingale, a postman, of Hokitika; the second was in No. 17 when Mr L. Grant, a railways guard, of Greymouth, was successful.
