Week’s Trading Starts On Firm Note
The week’s trading on New Zealand stock exchanges started on a firm note yesterday. Of 70 New Zealand issues dealt in, 15 were firmer and only 10 sold at lower prices than in most recent business. Overseas issues were mainly steady.
New Zealand Farmers’ Co-operative A preference rose Is 9d, in sympathy with the other classes of this company’s shares. British Pavements, in first ex dividend business, rose 5s 2d. Rubber Distributors and Whitcombe and Tombs each rose Is. Burnetts sold unchanged at 6s 9d after the announcement of the company’s 15 per cent, participation in the £9m Manapouri contract.
