WELLINGTON MATCH

T. H. Moynihan Dropped

T. H. Moynihan, the regular Canterbury No. 8 last season, has been omitted from the Canterbury team to play Wellington at Lancaster Park next Saturday. His place has been taken by the New Brighton loose forward. I. H. Penrose. Three members of the country pack which played so well against Town on Saturday have been included. The team announced last evening by the selectors (Messrs R. H. Duff and M. J. Dixon! is:— W. F. McCormick; W. Birtwistle. D. A, Arnold. P. A. Clarke: R. C. Moreton, B. A. Watt; M. F. Whitta; I. H. Penrose; D. J. Graham. A. J. Stewart. J. Francis, N. G. Cornelius; C R. Hockley, D. Young, J. M. Le Lievre Emergencies: backs. Q. A. Stahley. D. Johnston; forwards. T. H. Moynihan. The selectors have ctfosen an experienced side which includes six All Blacks. Only one player. Clarke, the Albion three-quarters, has not played for Canterbury A before.

Because the selectors already had chosen their squad to train for the Wellington match before the Town-Country match, that match did not have any -influence on the selection of the Canterbury team. Otherwise. the Country lock. A. Hopkinson. could have forced his way into the team cm his display on Saturday. The Canterbury back-line is the same as that originally chosen to play against Country. R. C. Moreton, who did not play against Country because of a back injury, reported fit at practice yesterday morning. After the Wellington match the selectors will announce

a squad of 25 players to train for the remainder of the representative season.
