Housewife Gaoled For Nine Months
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, May 28. A woman, who obtained more than £5OO by issuing 39 fraudulent cheques throughout New Zealand, was gaoled for nine months by Mr M. C. Astley, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court today. She is Dorothy June Bal, aged 24, a housewife-, who pleaded guilty to 39 charges of false pretences.
Red Lights Illegal.—A flashing red Mght on a Are engine was illegal, the New Zealand Fire Services’ Council has advised the North Shore Fire Board. —(P.A.)
