Old Rival Beaten
A 63-year-old Richmond axeman, Bill Snow, had his most satisfying chopping win yesterday. In the Nelson Bushcraft Club’s veterans’ event at Richmond, he beat the world champion of 36 years ago, Baden Gibbs. It was the first time Snow had ever beaten his old rival. Gibbs, who is 70, now lives in Western Australia and is in Nelson on holiday. The last time they met was at Trafalgar Park, Nelson, in June, 1933—(P A.)
