Waikari
Preserves, fruit and vegetables were given to the Good Neighbour service, and clothing had been sent to the North Canterbury Red Cross Centre, the president of the Waikari sub-centre of the Red Cross Society reported at the recent annual meeting. Donations had been made to International Red Cross, comforts for soldiers in Malaya. totally disabled servicemen, and £3B 10s to the Persian earthquake appeal. Guests at the meeting were the Waikari branch of the Junior Red Cross and Mrs D. J. Wales, who spoke on her work among aged persons in Christchurch. Officers elected were:— president, Mrs B. L. Blunden; vice-presidents, Mesdames C. H. Bethell, D. Black, and Miss A. C. Hall; secretary Mrs H. Palmer; treasurer. Mrs C. H. Bethell; liaison officer. Mrs R. Woolman; auditor, Mr G.
