ORGANISATIONS OF RESIDENTS
Conference To Be Considered The calling of a conference of residents' organisations in Canterbury was suggested at the annual meeting of Residents affiliated by the delegate for Christchurch central (Mr B H Paton) "At a rough guess between a quarter and a third of the residents' associations in the province are outside the metropolitan area and we should endeavour to extend this organisation so it can operate on a provincial level.” Mr Paton said. Associations would not have to be affiliated to attend, he said The matter will be discussed at an executive meeting The raising of affiliation fees— at present 2 gns. for each organisation—will also be considered by the executive. Residents Affiliated had only recently come out of recess and the six organisations at present subscribing provided a total of only 12 gns. said the president (Mr R K. Reddy) “It is hopeless to try to run this organisation on such capital" Tn the past because of unfortunate personal issues, the organisation failed to be of any real value to many associates, and its worth must be proven before other associations will be prepared to support it. The new committee. working in unity for the good of the communitv as a whole should soon show its worth." said the secretarytreasurer (Mr M G Teague) Officers elected were* president Mr R. K.
