HEAD OF NEW COLLEGE
Mr E. J. Norman Appointed Mr E. J. Norman, head of the history department at Christ’s College, has been appointed headmaster of the new Rathkeale College for boys in Masterton. This appointment was announced on Saturday by Mr H. A R. Dunderdale. chairman of the St. Matthew's Collegiate School board. Rathkeale College, a board-ing-school for boys controlled by the Anglican Church, will open in 1964 for third and fourth forms. The college will ultimately cater for all forms from 1 to VI. It will be administered by the St. Matthew's Trust, which already controls the Collegiate School for both boys and girls and a preparatory school. The board had bought an old home in Masterton. and this would serve as the college’s first boarding-house. <.(d Mr Norman Jast evening. The collegr would also start equipped with tennis courts a swimming pool, and a golf course, all of which are part of the property purchased. Mr Norman is an old boy of Christ’s College, where he has oeen teaching since 1951 Hi was housemaster at Richards House for six years, and at Jacobs House for two years He has been in charge of cricket at the college, and has coached the backs in the Ist XV since 1953 Mr Norman will leave Christchurch for Masterton at the start of the third term.
