ADVERTISING OF DRAW

Disappointed Committee The refusal of Christchurch newspapers to publish the weekly Rugby draw without cost was received with disappointment at a meeting of the management committee of the Canterbury Rugby Union last evening. The newspapers had advised the management committee that already the draw was published at a reduced cost and no further reduction could be made. Mr J. O. Hattersley (chairman) said the newspapers appeared to have their problems with costs as had th* Rugby unton. Mr C H. McPhail said the newspapers seemed to be taking a narrow view of the matter

The newspapers are full of the misdeeds of youths and complain about the unwholesome activities of some youths, he said, yet they will not help a non-profit making organisation which aims at providing sport for youth.
