Dr. G H. Gray, assistant prof* sor of sociology at Colorado State University, has been appointed a lecturer in sociology at the University of Canterbury. He graduated bachelor of arts from the University of Denver end took his doctorate in Colorado last year. Mr P. V. D. Quigley was admitted as a barrister of the Supreme Court by Mr Justice Wilson on the motion of his father, Mr G V Quigley. Mr p J. Parham was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court on the motion of Mr GAG. Connal Detective-Sergeant T. Thomson, of the Christchurch Centra] Police Station, has resumed duties after two months on exchange duties in New South Wales. He was based in Sydney, and worked with the consorting and vice squads of the C. 1.8. in the city, as well as doing duty in Newcastle and other New South Wales centres. 4
