Tobacco Trade Congress

(NX. Preu Auoctatian) WELLINGTON. Feb. 18. The New Zealand industry will be represented at the first international Tobacco Trade Congress which will be held at Salisbury. Southern Rhodesia, front March 6 to 16, by the chairman of the New Zealand Tobacco Board, Mr H. L Wise. He will leave flor Rhodesia tomorrow. More than 100 delegates representing 40 different countries are expected to attend. Mr Wise was bidden flarewell by members of the board ait its last meeting. After the meeting, Mr Wise said mdtoatiom were that the current season’s crop should be at least as great a« last season's, or from 9 million to 9.5 million lbs. A total of 5363 acres had been planted tor the current season, an increase of 665 acres and the number of growers was now 731, an increase of 118. Part of the crop had suffered some damage recently from high winds.
