SPENCERVILLE CAMP
Y.W.CA. Adds Dormitory
A new, six-bunk dormitory in the Y.W£A. camp at Spencerville was dedicated by the Bev. R A. Carson on Sunday. The extension, with toilet facilities, was the result of a donation of £3OO to the association by Mrs A. K. Hadfield, a past-president of the Christchurch Y.WjCA., and a Government grant. Four of the six bunks have already been sponsored by Mrs L T. Woolf, a former president of the Christchurch Y.W.C-A, Misses Helen Denniston and Cohn Pyne, and the Y.W.CA. Mothers’ Club
Sponsors for two more bunks were still required, said the general secrettary of the Christchurch Y.W.C.A (Miss L. Scott) yesterday. ■Hie camp is used by approved Christian youth organisations for leadership training. It will now accommodate about 30 persons. The Deputy-Mayor of Christchurch (Mr H. P. Smith) commended the fine work being done by the Y.W.C.A. and its camp, when speaking at the dedication ceremony.
The president of the Christchurch Y.W.CA. (Mrs A. N. McLeod) gave a brief history of the camp and mentioned the very many organisations as well as Y.W.CA. leadership trainees who use it
Official guests, who included Mr H. J. Walker. M.P., were welcomed by Mrs W. Grade, chairman at the opening ceremony.
