Season Begins In October

Press Association) WELLINGTON, October 1. “October marks the opening of New Zealand’s forest fire season and I appeal for care in the coming months.' toe Minister of Forests (Mr Gerard) said today. “It' is now that toe New Zealand Forest Service intensifies its normal vigilance over areas so essential to pur country’s natural welfare, but each citizen must also do his part to preserve our forests and grasslands. "Not only must everything possible be done to prevent toe outbreak of fires but it must be remembered that it is everyone’s duty to report any suspected outbreak to the nearest rural fire officer or Forest Service office. Farmers planning a clearing burn on their properties must consult those authorities.”
