TRAIN UNDER LIGHTS
Wallabies Not) Wasting Time (N.Z Press Association) MASTERTON. Aug. 16. A new departure for «n overseas Rugby team in New Zealand was provided by the Wallabies when they trained under lights at Solwsy Show Grounds Mssterton, tonight. The team management, worried that the loss of a day's training might upset the conditioning programme with the first test just over a week away, ordered the run this evening. Not even the 1956 Springboks had a night training session. The captain of the touring team, J E Thornett. had an X-ray examination in Wellington of his right hand, which he injured in Wednesday's match against Counties. It had been feared that Thornett had broken, or at best cracked, a bone, but the examination ■hotted no fracture A decision on whether he will play in the match against Wairarapa at Solway on Saturday will not be made until the moraine of the match. One other player selected, the five-eighths. A. R. Town, will have to pass a fitness test tomorrow Town. stiU to pla.v bis first match of the tour, arrived in New Zealand with an injured ankle The Queensland hack row forward. R A C. Evans, who damaged a hamstring muscle on the first afternoon of the tour, will not play again until after the Wellington test.
