Auckland Sightings

Reports of sightings of the two Russian spacecraft were received by the "New Zealand Herald" tonight Observers saw them travelling from north to south at approximately 635 pm and 6.40 pm Mrs I G. Howden, of Castor Bay. described the capsules as “a pinky glow" travelling at terrific speed Mr J Johnson, of Penrose, thought one capsule appeared as “an orangey light.” while Mr H T Taylor, of Owairaka saw the two pass overhead within an interval of three minutes The newspaper's astronomical correspondent said that assuming the two spacecraft were launched from the site of previous launchings, they would have been overhead at Auckland about 635 pm They would be on a track from north-east to south-west and would have been visible to the eye at the height they were travelling up tq an hour after sunset.
