Mr Beaumont's Gesture “The Press" Special Service WELLINGTON. June 29. New Zealand rowing will benefit from a £3OOO gift of oars from the former Canterbury rower, Mt W. C Beaumont, nowliving in England. Realising New Zealand's difficulties in obtaining overseas equipment, Mr Beaumont, who has Deen export manager for an English oars manufacturing firm, decided to make his gift in ’he form of oars. H“ attended the trials at Lake Karapiro earlier this year and was so impressed with the New Zealand eight that he also suggested that toe funds raised from the sale of the oars should be used for the construction of a training camp.
