Aston Back In Racing

The Aston Martin Company of Feltham, hear London, is to return to motor racing at Le Mans this week-end with the prototype of a grand touring car with a maximum speed of more than 170 m.p.h. The decision by Aston Martin—world championship sports car manufacturers in 1959—t0 return to competitive racing after a break of three years is based on the need to find the most demanding tests for engineering developments embodied in the new car—designated “Project 212.” An announcement by the Company says the 212 is an entirely new model with a 4-litre six-cylinder engine developing 345 h.p. at 6000 r.p.m. The aerodynamic lines of the aluminiummagnesium body are a result of wind-tunnel tests.
