EARTHWORK STARTED
Grandstand At Addington
Earthworks necessary before a start can be made on the construction of a new grandstand at Addington have begun and if weather permits they should be completed in a few days. The new public grandstand, which will replace pnj destroyed. by fire Last November, will be sited much closer to the track than the old one. As a result the old terrace has to be removed. Several thousand yards of material will be shifted to form a terrace from the front of the new stand to the rails. The terrace will extend from tihe straight entrance almost to the brrdcage. This will ensure that all patrons receive a good view of the racing. Formerly there was a flat area near the rails and persons there saw little of tihe racing. The stand on top of the mound at the straight entrance is being demolished and part of the mound is to be removed to make room for the new stand. It is intended to have the terracing consolidated and probably sealed in time' for the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club’s national: meeting in August.
