Passed Car On Bridge
(N.Z. Press Association) PALMERSTON NORTH, June 21. A 70-year-old man driving a 1939 model car passed an oncoming car at about 45 miles an hour on a one-way Bailey bridge near Palmerston North, a traffic officer said in the Magistrate’s Court. The combined width of the two cans was 10ft 6in and the bridge had only lift useable road sipace. The two vehicles passed each other without touching.
Before the Count was William Henry Jones, of Napier, who pleaded not guilty to driving in a manner that was dangerous. Mr D. G. Sinclair. S.M., convicted and fined Jones £2O, cancelled his driving licence for a year, and endorsed it for three years.
