Road Tunnel Name

Sir,' —Very occasionally in Chriglcburch someone brings forth an inspired suggestion regarding some project under consiideration. The naming of th® Bridge of Remembrance is one instance and tat of Cobbam for the tunnel and Mac Gibbon avenue for the approach is another. The road tunnel authority would be wise to adopt these forthwith. All too often there is wide division of opinion and much frustration in matters concerning the city. The town hall is a glaring example, as, indeed, is the road tunnel itself. But for a crackpot minority we could have had the tunnel, with no tags attached, in 1937/38. An early decision would enable a start to be made on the necessary preliminaries for a highway of which we could be proud. A competition for the best design might be considered as the first step.— Yours, etc., CASHMERE. June 18. 1962.
