Play Centres’ Association
A new branch of the Christchurch Play Centres’ Association has been formed at Governors Bay and has held its first meeting, it was announced at a recent meeting of the association’s committee of management. A third preparatory meeting had also been held with the association’s new group at Heathcote.
Mesdames A. Long, R. Brodie, P Lawrence and A. Read recently visited the Hanmer Springs Play Centre to display equipment and hold discussions with committee members and parents The following appointments have been made by the association: Mrs J Dalkie, supervisor at North New Brighton; and Mrs M. Harris, probationary assistant at Hoon Hay. One resignation was received. from Dr. J Seabrook a member of the association’s committee of management
Railway Tradesmen's Claim. —Because staffing in the railways services was unsatisfactory a claim for 2s an hour was sought by the New Zealand Railways Tradesmen's Association at a hearing of the Government Railways Industrial Tribunal yesterday.—(P.A )
