Lord Sasanof For Stud Career

[The Press Soecial Service]

AUCKLAND. June 19. The fine galloper Lord Sasanof (above) will not be persevered with further. He has been bought by Mr S. H. Walker, of the Oak Park Stud, Ngaruawahia. and is due to travel south from Takanini tomorrow. It is expected he will do a light stud season next spring.

A brown five-year-old of much quality, Lord Sasanof won 15 races and just on £15.000 in stakes. His wins were scored over distances ranging from six furlongs up to a mile and a half and they included the Gloaming Stakes at Trentham when a three-year-old. and several races at weight-for-age. Trained in the early part of his career by V. B. Johnson at Takanini. he joined F. and G. W. Smith’s stable for the last two seasons. As well as his New Zealand successes he was a winner in Australia. Mr Walker already has his former chamoion Syntax and the imported EngUsh horse Pundit at his Oak Park stud Lord Sasanof did his racing in the colours of Mrs F. E. Crimmins, of Auckland, who bought him a>t the Trentham yearling sales. He is by Fair's Fair from King’s Lady, by Sun King, and the first foal of his dam.

Jan Beebe one of the top two-year-olds of the season, is expected to rejoin F. and G. W. Smith’s stable at Takanini next week-end after a spell of six weeks or so. Faircourt and Imli have already come back to training with the Smiths after being rested for a time.

The farm of Jan •Beebe, when she resumes racing in the spring, is going to be especially interesting because she came through her two-year-old racing looking full of promise. At her last start she won the Challenge Stakes at Riccarton on April 28, and altogether she has had 13 races for four firsts, seven seconds and two thirds. Due back into work at the same time as Jan Beebe is the filly Khadija, another of the youngsters owned by Mr M. F. Khan, of Rotorua, with which the Smith stable has done so well.

Khadija’s record is three firsts, a second and two thirds from eight attempts. She is by The Cobbler from Noor Begum. Jan Beebe, also owned by Mr Khan, is by Syntax from Grilse.
