Burnside Stock Sale

(N.Z Press Association) DUNTOIN, June 18. Fat stock values were mostly nrm at the Burnside stock market today. The yarding of fat eattle numbered 363, against 241 last week. There was an absence of good heavy cattle. The larger oart of the yarding consisted of medium to light quality, including a number of unfinished cattle. The sale opened at values £2 to £3 below last week, but with the help of outside competition values improved to be almost on a par with the previous sale. Cows and heifers were also hard to sell in most races. Considering the size of the yarding ... . sheep, 3755. compared with 3121, most classes were sold at a very satisfactory level. Overall the quality was good, and this helped to keep values fairly consistent. The sale for two-tooth wethers opened at close to last week’s rates and except for a’ period in the middle stages they sold steadily throughout. ..Good demand also ruled for the four-tooth wethers, of which there was a greater selection than has been the ease over the last few weeks.

Because of this Increased yarding of younger sheep, all wethers, six-tooth and over were neglected, values easing 3s to 4s. A good supply of ewes w ?l. ln ? he entp y. however, and with the exception of some early shorn prime medium classes, demand was very steady at rates on a par with last week.

A small entry of good quality lambs met strong competition at rates Is to 2s dearer. The varding numbered only 315 as against last week’s 299, Quotations:— Prime heavy bullocks, to £5O prime. £42 2s 6d to £46 medium, £36 12s 6d to £4O 2s 6d: light, from £3O 17s
