Exchange At Halswell
(Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, June 19. The Postmaster - General (Mr Kinsella) has approved the purchase of £58,000 worth of switching equipment for a new telephone exchange at Halswell. It should be delivered when the contractor finishes a new building on the present exchange site. This should mean the exchange is working by late 1965. said Mr Kinsella today. The exchange will at first accommodate up to 1800 subscribers and will be able to be extended as the growing district demands it.
The present switching gear with a capacity of 600 lines will be used elsewhere.
