The Canterbury Trustee Savings Bank wow'd open an i'nformation centre in Hereford street on Tuesday, said the chairman of the interim committee (Mr M A. Connelly. M.P) last evening. The centre would be for the convenience of members of the public and organisations who wished to complete promise - to - deposit forms It would be open between 10 a m. and 4 p m and be located between Colombo street and Manchester street Mr Connelly said during the last week promises to deposit totalling more than £50.000 were received and excellent progress wa« being made towards the target figure of £200.000. When this figure was reached the Government would authorise the bank to start business
Second Operation. The British tn,tor racing champion, Stirling Moss, has had a second operation to correct a damaged nose after his 100-mile-an-hour Easter crash. The Atkinson Morely Hospital said Moss—who was unconscious with a bruised brain and fractures for several days after the crash—was making “steady improvement."—London, June 17,
