Rugby RUGBY UNION CRITICISED
“Could Do More For Schools” (N.Z Press Association) DANNEVIRKE, March 21. “The New Zealand Rugby Union is a wealthy organisation and could do a lot more than it is doing for the promotion of schoolboy Rugby in toe country.” This was the comment of a former Hawke’s Bay player, Mr W. Jones, at a meeting of toe Dannevirke Rugby Sub-union management committee last night. Mr Jones, a schoolteacher, added: “It’s time toe union woke up to themselves and did something concrete for their future money earners.” Mr Jones’s remarks followed an announcement that the grant for schoolboy Rugby in. the whole of Hawke’s Bay last year amounted to £BO.
