Appeal Rejected

An appeal by B. B. Halliday (Mr D. Clarke) against the rejection by the Motoi Spirits Licensing Authority (Mr R. W. Edgley) of an application for permission to instal two petrol pumps in a new garage in Marshland road was refused by the Motor Spirits Licensing Appeal Authority (Judge Dalglish).

The appeal was opposed by the New Zealand Retail Motor Trade Association (Mr W. J. Waddle* and the Marshland Garage (Mr J. G. Hutchison). Mr Clarke submitted that the Licensing Authority was misdirected in not accepting evidence of a public demand for more petrol pumps in the area.
