DIVORCE OF CRIPPLE
Judge Speeds Decree , (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) SYDNEY, March 13 ; A young invalid pensioner was granted a speedy divorce decree today to enter into a I marriage he will not be able 'to consummate. I The divorce judge. Mr Justice Dovey. said that special circumstances justified a divorce decree in favour of Nicholas York being made absolute in 21 days instead of 'the prescribed three-month period i The suit, charging desertion. was against Barbara Carol York (formerly Cooper! of Paris. France. The couple were married in September. 1958 Mr Justice Dovey sa,d that York was partly crippled with multiple disseminated sclerosis. He was unable to look after himself or consummate marriage because of his ! condition. A single woman desired to marry him even though she was aware of his condition the Judge said, and York wanted to remarry as soon as possible. "It is a tragic case.” Mr Justice Dovey said, "which in my experience is unique.”
