Appointment Deferred

WELLINGTON. March 14. The Publie Service Commission has decided to postpone the appointment of a Director-General of Lands to succeed Mr D. N. R. Webb, who has been appointed Director-General of Agriculture.

Mr Webb will take up his new post on April 1. The Public Service Commission. in an announcement today, said: "With the report of the Royal Commission on the State Services due to be submitted during the next few months, it had been decided to make temporary arrangements for the filling of this post in case some functional rearrangements of the department's work might arise as a result of the recommendations." The commission has appointed the present Assistant Director-General (Mr E. J. G. Price) to act as Direc-tor-General in the meantime.
