MR RUSK TO VISIT N.Z.

Meeting Of A.N.Z.U.S.

WELLINGTON, Feb. 27.

The Prime Minister and Minister of External Affairs (Mr Holyoake) today announced that he will attend an A.N.Z.U.S. Council meeting to be held in Canberra on May 7 and 8. Mr Holyoake said the meeting was part of toe normal precess of consultation provided for in Article VIII of the treaty. “In the past, for convenience. these meetings have been held in Washington, but I am very glad that on this occasion the United States Secretary of State (Mr Rusk) has found it possible to attend a meeting in one of toe Pacific capitals.”

He had invited the United States Secretary of State to visit New Zealand on his way back to America after the meeting.. Mr Rusk had, in spite of great pressure on his time, accepted the invitation.

He would arrive in New Zealand on May 9, and would leave the next day.
