Steadier Trend On Sharemarket
There was a steadier trend for both Australian and New Zealand shares on the New Zealand share market yesterday, with rises and falls almost in balance. George H. Scales made the best gain of the day. Whitcombe and Tombs rights, in Auckland and Wellington business, closed at 9s 6d. Opening business before Christmas was done at 8s 9d and the rights reached a low point of 5s Id late in January. North Auckland Farmers rights fell from 8d to Id. 8.H.P., Colonial Sugar and several of the Australian chain stores were weaker.
