DETECTIVE’S APPEAL

WELLINGTON, Feb. 28.

An appeal against convictions on charges of assault, obstructing a traffic officer in the execution of his duty and exceeding 30 miles an hour, has been lodged by Brian Michael Meates. who. during the hearing of the charges in the Magistrate’s Court, was described as a detective attached t< the Wellington C. 1.8.

The convictions were imposed by Mr J. F. Keane. S.M., at the conclusion of the hearing on February 1.

Meates was fined a total of £23, with costs totalling £4 10s, and witnesses’ expenses £2 4s.
