Freedom-From-Hunger Fund

( N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Feb. 28.

A target of £500,000 has been set for New Zealand in the National Freedom-?rom-Hunger campaign which will be launched in Auckland tomorrow-

Mr G. Bartels, UH.I.C.E.F representative for Australia and New Zealand, and technical adviser to the Food and Agricultural Organisation in Rome, will be the guest speaker. He said that a great deal of the money will be spent in New Zealand, buying dairy processing and milk processing equipment and paying for the services of New Zealand experts around the world. Not a Hand-out The money would not be a hand-out to the countries, said Mr Bartels. Funds raised will be used to finance projects which are intended to help them raise their standard of food production. Countries which might be helped by New Zealand are Korea, Japan, India, Jordan. Libya and Brazil. Mr Bartels said the Free-dom-From-Hunger campaign would run parallel with the Colombo Plan. It would not limit its activities to Southeast Asia, but would take In under-developed countries not covered by the plan.
